TRISH WILDERMUTH, LEAD TEACHER
Trish Wildermuth knew she wanted to work with children from the time she was 4 years old and has spent her life doing just that. She received her degree in Elementary and Special Education from SUNY Geneseo and then went on to get her Masters in Elementary Reading and Literacy. Trish taught children in both the Elementary and Intermediate levels before starting her own family of three children with her husband Don. She has worked with children through numerous volunteer positions such as the Special Olympics and Girl Scouts. Trish has always believed that “education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire” (William Butler Yeats). She shares Katrina Trask Nursery School’s belief in a hands-on, child-centered program and strives to make preschool a positive experience that will serve as the foundation for a life-time love of learning.
SUZANNE GOWEN, TEACHER
Suzanne has been teaching at Katrina Trask since 2015, though she has over a decade of experience working with children. Suzanne is also a practicing physical therapist and received her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from Springfield College in 2001. Her extensive knowledge of child development, especially fine and gross motor skills, as well as a child’s sensory needs, help to enrich the curriculum. Suzanne focuses on a whole child approach, incorporating movement and sensory experiences throughout the school day, and believes in the “learning through play” philosophy. Both of Suzanne’s children attended KT, and she enjoys giving back to the preschool that gave her children such a positive start to school.
Sheila fell in love with Katrina Trask Nursery School back in 2010 when her first born child walked in the door to start her educational journey. She knew that her daughter would get the best foundation academically, socially and emotionally. But, what she didn’t expect was the amazing group of life-long friends and connections that both she and her daughter would make by being part of Katrina Trask Nursery School. Sheila knew one day she would love to give back to the school that played such an instrumental part in the lives of her family.
When Sheila accepted the position as Director she knew that she would be given that opportunity. As the Director of Katrina Trask Sheila will take her educational background in sociology, her professional background in management and her passion for Katrina Trask to help every parent and child have the same KT experience that she and her family had…if not better!
